Purvis plans announcement for Friday

Bookmark and Share

Rodney Purvis, one of the top high school basketball players in the country, plans to announce his college decision at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Raleigh's Upper Room Christian Academy.

The 6-foot-4 guard is expected to choose from among N.C. State, Memphis Connecticut and Virginia Commonwealth, according to Upper Room Christian coach Avie Lester.

Purvis is ranked among the top 20 prospects in the country in most national recruiting lists. He can play point guard or shooting guard and has tremendous speed.

He had committed to Louisville, but later decided to consider other options.

He averaged 25.6 points and 9 rebounds.

Who cares?   If he goes to State he will just be the latest in a long line of AAU studs who have no idea how to play on a team.  He is not a fit for Carolina or Duke and it has nothing to do with ability.

i love it screwmocu--- -cow palace---lol

Ask Jules?

Yeah consult with Julius Hodge.  Maybe you can be like him and play pro ball in Australia after college.

Is this a commitment

Is this going to really be a commitment or just another placeholder until he changes his mind again?

Why should he ask Julius

Why should he ask Julius Hodge? Didn't he play for a guy who the majority of State fans thought was "mediocre"?

Here's hoping Rodney chooses the Wolfpack. He's a talented player that would bring a lot to the squad.  With a few players of his quality, Coach Gottfried will have all the tools he needs to take the Pack back to national prominence.

Go Pack!!

Announcement misplaced

Of course this is a big (Joe Biden) deal to the student-athlete and to the college he chooses, but why does The N&O news departments make such a big deal about college athletics and then its editorial department criticizes the colleges for making such a big deal out of college athletics?

Run, Rodney, run...

... run with The Pack!  Listen to Avie, and listen to Julius Hodge.  Tobacco Rd. is still the best place to play basketball.  NCSU needs you to help them catch up to other Big Four.  You, and 50 more like you over the next 30 years.

Come on, Rodney - RUN WITH

Come on, Rodney -

That's right Rodney---go run

That's right Rodney---go run your mouth with the wolpfack! outa fit right in at the cow palace!
