Raleigh Upper Room's Rodney Purvis, who played in the McDonald's All-American Game on Wednesday night, was among the top vote getters on Thursday for the 2011-12 Associated Press' North Carolina all-state high school basketball team.
Purvis and Kadeem Allen of New Hanover each received 20 of 22 possible votes from sports writers across the state.
Cary Green Hope's Kristen Gaffney, who was named to the team for the third consecutive year, leads the girls team after receiving 21 of 22 votes.
Allen, a 6-foot-3 senior, is undecided on his college choice and Purvishas signed with North Carolina State.
Gaffney is a 6-foot forward who signed with Vanderbilt.
The Triangle was well represented on the boys and girls teams
Joining Purvis on the 13-man squad are Oxford Webb junior Isaiah Hicks, Ravenscroft junior Anton Gill, Chapel Hill senior Denzel Ingram (UNC-Charlotte), and Person junior Tyrone Outlaw.
The girls team includes Enloe's Dana Brown (UNC-Wilmington) and Millbrook junior Briana Day, who led the Wildcats to the state 4A championship.
