Overrated? No!

The spectators who chanted "Overrated" at Middle Creek's Garrius Adams and Enloe's Melvin Tabb on Wednesday night must have been clowning around or watching film clips on their telephones or something.

Adams and Tabb showed why they are both Atlantic Coast Conference recruits in Enloe's 62-50 win in the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs.

Middle Creek coach Dave Kushner said he believes Adams, who has signed with Miami, is the best public school player in the state. (Incidentally, the best high school player in the state _ Word of God point guard John Wall _ was in the bleachers).

Adams had 23 points and was effective inside and outside. Often there would be a group of players  vying for a rebound when  one hand would emerge from the crowd and grab it.  That was  Adams.

Enloe coach Tommy Moore said he had seen Adams play before, but appreciated him more after coaching against him.

Kushner said the thing that made the loss so difficult was that he'd not be able to coach Adams and senior Tom Tankelewicz again. He spoke about how hard they had worked to build a program at Middle Creek.

Moore will coach Tabb, a junior who is committed to Wake Forest, at practice today as the Eagles prepare for Friday's third round game against Knightdale.

Tabb was sensational, especially in the first quarter when he scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He finished with 21 points and a dozen rebounds.
