Brent Walston and Randy Jordan are the acting athletics directors at two new Johnston County high schools that will open this fall.
Walston, who was the athletic director at North Johnston High, is at Corinth Holders High while Jordan, a former athletic director at Goldsboro High and Cary Academy and a teacher at Smithfield Middle, is at Cleveland.
"They are acting athletic directors," said Terri Sessoms, a Johnston County spokesperson. "They have not been officially named, no one has been, but they are working in those positions."
Cleveland and Corinth offiically have a principal and one secretary on staff. Meredith had hoped to have an athletics director by April 1, but believes the AD will be added after Johnston County Schools return from spring break.
"I think our community is excited to have school," Meredith said. "As we start adding staff, the excitement will continue to build."
Corinth Holders and Cleveland are expected to open with full athletic programs in the fall, with the exception of football. Both teams are expected to play junior varsity programs in football.
