First game in best of three series

South Stanly 6, Hampstead Topsail 1
Jared Aman had a big two-run double in a five-run sixth inning
as South Stanly downed Hampstead Topsail 6-1 in the opening game of
the
North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 1-A baseball
championship series at Five County Stadium on Friday.
Senior righthander Wes Hatley went the distance on the mound for the
winners, allowing just three hits and fanning eight, while Dan Retinger
took
the loss.

Mayodan McMichael 16, Morganton Patton 6 (5 innings)

 

Seven different players had multi-hit games
for Mayodan Dalton McMichael as the Fighting Phoenix blasted
Morganton
Patton 16-6 in five innings on Friday night in the opening game of the
North
Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A baseball
championship
series at Doak Field at North Carolina State University.
McMichael banged out 18 hits in the game, which was called
after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
