Millbrook remains undefeated with win at East Wake

Bookmark and Share

WENDELL — Millbrook’s defense can no longer be looked at as the weak link on the team.

Defensive coach Josh Pardue’s squad recovered five fumbles, intercepted two passes and blocked a 20-yard field goal try to preserve the shutout in the Wildcats’ 49-0 victory over host East Wake.

“I know in the past we’ve been hearing about how the defense was the Achilles’ heel of the team,” Millbrook head coach Clarence Inscore said. “The defense has played really well all year — playing like they have a chip on their shoulder. Coach Pardue has done a tremendous job.”

Wildcats running back Kuwon Eldridge supplied the offense by rushing for 104 yards and four touchdowns.

Not much went right for East Wake (0-2). Even the scoreboard broke in the second quarter – stuck at 28-0 for the remainder of the game.

East Wake’s defense has been hit hard by injuries, and starting quarterback Greg Jones has yet to play.

Inscore faces former assistant coach Anthony Sullivan’s Northern Durham squad next week.
