John Wall wants the college experience

Bookmark and Share

John Wall plans to go to college.

Others may say he is ready for the NBA, but he is talking about playing college basketball. He plans to have his list of schools down to three or four by next Monday.

"The amount of money you hear [for high picks in the NBA draft] is pretty impressive," Wall said Tuesday. "But I really think I need one, two, three years of college to prepare me to play in the NBA. I don't think I'm ready to play in the NBA right now and I want the college experience. Going to college would be good for me."

He plans to trim his list of potential schools to three or four by Monday. He currently has seven schools on his list — N.C. State, Duke, Baylor, Kansas, Miami, Kentucky and Memphis.

Memphis was the leader for Wall until Coach John Calipari resigned and went to Kentucky.

"There is no leader,” he said. “No leader at all.”

Wall said he was not sure if he has a college board score that is high enough to allow him to play as a freshman at an NCAA major college.

"I have great confidence that I’m going to get the score I need if I don’t have it already," he said.

Good Call Stay in School...

Yea the best thing is to always stay in school and improve your draft stock. You might as well get an education because you can't play basketball forever..
Marietta Divorce
I wish him luck in the future..

N.C. State, Duke and UNC...

want the John Wall experience.

Good call by John wall.

Good call by John wall. Taking the long look is often the best perspective. You will pick the leader soon enough. The NBA will be there when you get out John.

Stay healthy

Not really. The NBA will

Not really. The NBA will NOT be there for as long as you make it seem. College, on the other hand, can be completed anywhere thanks to online courses, etc. Wall doesn't need a year or two of college to prepare for the NBA. He'll be a good player two years from now no matter where he spends that time - but it's hard to argue that the LESS time basketball becomes his job, the better he'll be.

But then again, I know what he's saying here. He doesn't need the classes, but he'll get a yearsworth under his belt so he can work on it during the summer of his rookie year. And notice he didn't say he was looking forward to college -- just the college experience. Kinda like I don't miss college -- just the experiences ;)

Pete

That's a good decision john wall, for now it's good for you to proceed into college, even you have a potential to play NBA now, it's too early...your great John, Good Luck...
