Holly Springs opens at home

Holly Springs will open its best-of-three Eastern 4-A baseball championship series against Wilmington Ashley at home on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The series tentatively is scheduled to move to Ashley for the second game on Friday night at 7.

If a third game is needed, the Eastern title will be decided on Saturday night at Holly Springs at 7.

Holly Springs (23-2) defeated Leesville Road 9-4 on Tuesday night while Ashley (20-6) upset Wilmington Hoggard 4-2.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association championship series, scheduled for next week, also is a best-of-three series.
