Hilltop Invitational baseball tournament set to begin

The Hilltop Invitational, the Triangle's largest spring break baseball tournament, begins Thursday and uses the fields at East Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, Orange and Cedar Ridge high schools to host two eight-team tournaments.

The "American Division" is hosted by East Chapel Hill and Orange and features Cary, East Chapel Hill, East Forsyth, South Granville, Burlington Williams, Granville Central, Maury (Va.) and Orange.

The "National Division" is hosted by Chapel Hill and Cedar Ridge and features Cardinal Gibbons, Durham Jordan, Surry Central, Cedar Ridge, Southern Alamance, Kernersville Glenn, Tallmadge (Ohio) and Chapel Hill.

The American Division’s seventh-, fifth-, third- and first-place games will be held Saturday at Orange starting at 10 a.m., while the National Division’s games that day will be at Cedar Ridge.

Thursday - American Division

Game 1 (at East Chapel Hill HS) East Forsyth vs. South Granville, 1 p.m.
Game 2 (at East Chapel Hill HS) Cary vs. East Chapel Hill, 4 p.m.
Game 3 (at Orange HS) Williams vs Granville Central, 4 p.m.
Game 4 (at Orange HS) Maury (Va.) vs Orange, 7 p.m.

Friday - American Division

Game 5 (at East Chapel Hill) Game 1 loser vs Game 2 loser, 10 a.m.
Game 6 (at East Chapel Hill) Game 3 loser vs Game 4 loser, 1 p.m.  
Game 7 (at East Chapel Hill) Game 1 winner vs Game 2 winner, 4 p.m. 
Game 8 (at Orange) Game 3 winner vs Game 4 winner, 7 p.m.

Saturday - American Division

Game 9 (at East Chapel Hill) Game 5 loser vs Game 6 loser, 10 a.m.
Game 10 (at Orange) Game 5 winner vs Game 6 winner, 1 p.m.  
Game 11 (at Orange) Game 7 loser vs Game 8 loser, 4 p.m.

Game 12 (at Orange) Game 7 winner vs Game 8 winner, 7 p.m. - championship
 
Thursday - National Division

Game 1 (at Cedar Ridge HS) Jordan vs. Cardinal Gibbons, 1 p.m.
