Glaxo basketball is shaping up

The 2009 GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational, one of the top high school basketball tournaments in the country, is shaping up.

Tournament director Bill Sewell has filled 15 of the 16 spots in the two boys tournaments that will be played simultaneously in December 26, 28, 29 and 30 at Broughton High.

The committed field currently has seven players ranked among the top 100 in the country by scout.com and five of the top eight in North Carolina in the scout.com ranking.

The teams that are committed are:

Cardinal Gibbons; Enloe (Wake Forest recruit Melvin Tabb); Millbrook; Apex; Garner; Durham Riverside;  Chapel Hill; West Charlotte; Kinston; Red Springs Flora MacDonald; Wilson Greenfield; Raleigh Word of God; Forsyth Country Day School; Manhattan (N.Y.) Rice; and Walton, Ga.

Among the top players in the field are Word of God's C.J. Leslie (uncommitted); MacDonald's Cothron (uncommitted); Enloe's Melvin Tabb (Wake Forest); Walton's Ryan Harrow (N.C. State) and Kinston's Reggie Bullock (North Carolina).
