The N.C. High School Athletic Association expects a ruling to be made this week regarding the consequences of altercation during last Friday's football game between Southern Pines Pinecrest and Cameron Union Pines.
Officials from the two schools met on Tuesday.
Davis Whitfield, the NCHSAA commissioner, said the association is waiting until all the official reports have been submitted and for the schools to make their reports.
Initial reports indicate that each team had three players ejected for fighting. NCHSAA rules ban teams from the playoffs if three or more players are ejected for fighting during a season.
The NCHSAA has a video of the altercation, which took place on a kickoff. There was no return because the kick carried into the end zone.
"We are waiting to get all the facts," Whitfield said. "I hope we'll have everything in place before the end of the week."
