The first comment to your article is so telling. When Duke football was hopeless, nobody bothered to respond with such drivel. Now that the team has begun the turnaround, fans of other area schools cannot stand it. While Coach Cutcliffe doesn't have the players yet to compete for the ACC championship, after a few classes with players like Desmond Scott -- watch out!
Does Duke need media help to go any further?
Sat, 10/11/2008 - 21:07 — Anonymous (not verified)Ok. So it's an accepted fact that Duke football sucks. History can guide us here. But I'm amazed, absolutely amazed that the News Observer has actually resorted to glorifying recruits as some sort of evidence that Duke football sucks less than it used to. Please. Please. Stick to SOME sort of journalistic ethics. Give up the high school hopeful in favor of real coverage. Cover what's actually going on. Which is a goose above nothing. -- I've got a topic. "Hey! Next year's president won't stink as much as this year's." Wow. That's news.
Look to the AP guides. Think about newsworthiness, instead of pandering to local money. Try to not whine and suck to mollify the Northern types. Just write the damn article without bias. Please? I'd hate to have to accept the Herald Sun as a news source instead. Yuck.
