Derrick Favors, rated as the No. 1 high school basketball prospect in the country by some recruiting services, expects to make his college decision tonight.
Favors plans to announce whether he will attend Georgia Tech, Georgia or N.C. State at 6:30 at ESPNZone in Atlanta.
The 6-foot-9 Favors has led South Atlanta High to a 14-1 record. He is an extremely hard worker on the boards, is a prolific scorer and a solid ball handler.
Georgia Tech seems to be the favorite to land Favors. He is making his decision at ESPN minutes before the network will telecast an Atlantic Coast Conference basketball game between Georgia Tech and Duke. Tech coach Paul Hewitt attended Favors' game on Monday night and saw the hometown hero score 30 points. Favors reportedly recently attended Georgia Tech's 67-62 win over Georgia.
Favors' South Atlanta club plays against Mobile (Ala.) LeFlore on Thursday night on ESPN2. DeMarcus Cousins, another of the top 10 prospects in the country, leads LeFlore. On Saturday, South Atlanta plays powerful Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill in Springfield, Mo.
