Bookmark and Share

Mike Briggs, the head football coach at Durham Jordan High since 2001, resigned his head coaching position on Monday.

Briggs, a 1984 graduate of Jordan, has been a coach and faculty member at Jordan since 1993. He was appointed head varsity coach in 2001. His teams had a 75-59 record, making him the winningest coach in Jordan’s football history.

His teams appeared in nine straight NCHSAA state football playoffs before not making it this season, and in 2006 the Falcons won the PAC-6 conference championship and Briggs was named PAC-6 Coach of the Year.

He will continue to teach in the Physical Education Department at Jordan, and also work in other aspects in the athletic department.
