
Athens Drive golfer Sarah Bae won the N.C. Junior Girls’ Golf Championship on June 24 at the Pine Island Country Club in Charlotte.
Bae, the News & Observer girls high school golfer of the year, defeated Kayla Sciupider of Etowah, 4 and 3 in the match play event. Bae won four of the first five holes in the title match and had a three-hole advantage after 12 holes. On No. 14, made an eagle putt to push her lead back to four holes.
Stanhope Johnson, Jr. of Greensboro defeated Dylan Harris of Southern Pines, 2 and 1.
