ACC assistant commissioner leads for NCHSAA post

Davis Whitfield, an assistant Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner, is the leading candidate to succeed Charlie Adams as the executive director of the N.C. High School Athletic Association.

Whitfield is the Director of Championships for the ACC. He previously had worked in athletic administration at Campbell University, the University of North Carolina and Wake Forest University.

He is a graduate of Rosewood High. He played college baseball at East Carolina and the University of North Carolina.
