Hanson, Paussa make colleges' all-state team

Middle Creek hires Wesley King as new baseball coach

New Middle Creek athletics director Jeremy Thompson has hired Wesley King as the baseball coach that will replace him. The Mustangs were state champions in 2012.

Thompson was named the school's new athletics director during the 2013 season and it was then that it would be his last as a coach. His first hire was naming his replacement.

"A lot of my buddies said 'I'd hate to be the guy coming in to interview with a state championship coach for his job,'" said Thompson, who was getting calls about the position almost immediately after he announced he was stepping down.

King comes from North Buncombe High School near Asheville. North Buncombe was 22-4 this past season, and King went 76-36 in his four seasons.
