The Wilders Grove Wolfpack, the Capital City Steelers and the Cary Chargers saw their Consolidated Football Federation football teams advance to next week’s second round of the Pop Warner Little Scholars Mid-South Region playoffs with victories Saturday. Several organizations also saw their cheerleading teams advance to the Nov. 27 region championships. (Results are below.)
- In a Division II Junior Peewee game, Capital City defeated the Churchland (Va.) Tigers 6-0.
- In Division II Midgets, Wilders Grove defeated the Suffolk (Va.) Steelers 6-0.
- In Division III Junior Peewee, Wilders Grove defeated the Havelock Rams 18-12.
- In Division III Junior Midgets, Cary defeated the New Bern Warriors 31-6.
Other Triangle teams – North Raleigh, Durham and Orange County – were eliminated.
- In Division I Junior Peewee Division I, the Virginia Beach (Va.) Mustangs defeated the Durham Eagles 22-12.
- In Division I Peewee Division I, Virginia beach defeated Durham 14-12.
- In Division II Peewee, Churchland defeated the North Raleigh Bulldogs 6-0.
- In Division II Junior Midgets, the Bennetts Creek Warriors of Chesapeake, Va., defeated North Raleigh 28-18.
- In Division III Peewee, South Chesapeake (Va.) defeated the Orange County Tar Heels 28-0.
The Triangle's Consolidated Football Federation teams hosted 12 first-round games in the Pop Warner Little Scholars Mid-South Region playoffs.
Winners of the 29 overall first-round games advance to
second-round games on Nov. 14, and the winners of those games will
advance to the Nov. 28 Turkey Bowl region championships in Charlotte.
Regional champions advance to the Pop Warner Super Bowl to be played Dec. 5-12 at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
