If you love baseball or if you just like the idea of helping give kids a chance to play, then you won't want to miss Thursday's launch of Midweek Miracles.
Backyard Bistro and Pepsi Bottling Ventures will co-host a carnival from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday - rain or shine - in the restaurant parking lot to start the Midweek Miracles fundraising campaign for the Miracle League of the Triangle.
The Miracle League of the Triangle is celebrating its fifth season of helping children with special needs play baseball. More than 250 players and 500 volunteers participate in Saturday games at Adams Elementary School in Cary.
Backyard Bistro is located off Trinity Road near the RBC Center and Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh. The carnival will include a cookout, games, a dunking booth, face-painting and prizes. Proceeds from the carnival and Midweek Miracles and a $5,000 Pepsi Refresh Project grant will help fund field repairs, equipment purchases and other needs.
If you can't make the carnival, you still can help. Backyard Bistro will host Midweek Miracles every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the restaurant. Ten percent food sales during those hours will go to the league, the event news release said. The restaurant also will show the previous weekend's games on the big screens through the fall season. Kids who eat during that time will receive a $1 coupon to use on their next visit.
