Redskins, Cowboys, Tigers crowned Raleigh youth football champions

The Redskins, the Cowboys and the Tigers recently won their division championships in the Raleigh Parks and Recreation's youth football program.

Mitey Mite (ages 7-9): The Jaycee Park Redskins, coached by Ishua Benjamin, defeated the Millbrook Exchange Park Cowboys 37-12 in the City of Raleigh Mitey Mite League Championship on Nov. 13 at Lions Park. The Redskins completed an undefeated season, going 9-0. The Mitey Mite program has 12 teams from parks throughout Raleigh, program director David Tugwell reported.

Little League (ages 9-11): The Lions Park Tigers, coached by William Scarborough, defeated the Green Road Eagles 15-0 in the Nov. 8 championship game at Lions Park. The Tigers finished the season with a 9-0 record. The league has 12 teams.

Junior League (ages 11-13): The Millbrook Cowboys, coached by Steve Holmes, defeated the Chavis Vikings 26-14 in the seven team league's Nov. 6 championship game at Buffaloe Road Athletic Park. The Cowboys finished the season with a 7-1 record.
