LPGA stars Annika Sorenstam, Suzann Pettersen and Kristy McPherson will be just down the road in Pinehurst Resort next week, and about 400 recreational golfers from across North America will watch and learn from those players and other golf notables.
The recreational golfers will be the participants in the EWGA Golfpalooza, formerly known as the Executive Women’s Golf Association's annual conference.
The event at Pinehurst Resort will be hosted Wednesday through Saturday by the recently formed EWGA Sandhills Chapter, and the Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based national organization expects more than 400 executive women to attend.
Businesswomen who haven't heard of the Executive Women's Golf Association should check it out. Lots of business is conducted on golf courses, but mainly by male executives. The EWGA, founded in 1991, helps businesswomen learn the game so they can join in.
The nonprofit provides social and networking activities, too. Among the more than 120 chapters in 40 states is the Raleigh-Triangle Chapter.
