UNC-Chapel Hill's assistant director of housekeeping has been named one of America's worst bosses by eBossWatch.com
Tonya Sell has been listed at the 97th worst boss in America in 2011 out of 100.
Earlier this year, members of UNC's Student Action with Workers delivered a list of grievances, including complaints against Sell, to Chancellor Holden Thorp.
In July, housekeepers started a petition to get Sell transferred to another department, because they said she treats employees like they're in the military and plays favorites.
eBossWatch.com collects candidates for its annual list from court records and news reports. A panel of people with background in workplace issues, harassment and discrimination then compiles the list of worst bosses from about 250 considered each year.
The website was founded in June 2007 by Asher Adelman to help people avoid hostile work environments and workplace bullying by allowing people to anonymously rate their boss online.
Jon Peters, a movie producer in Los Angeles, holds the number one spot for worst boss in America this year. Peters is known for his work on "Rain Man," "Superman Returns" and other films.
This year Peters was ordered to pay $822,000 in damages to his former personal assistant for sexual harassment and a hostile work environment, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Hardworking staff
Thu, 12/29/2011 - 12:14 — tbucknerI don't know Ms. Sell, but the UNC housekeepers that I know or have encountered over the years are hardworkers. Thank goodness for the students who have pushed to get the administration to take their concerns seriously.
I'm a UNC grad
Wed, 12/28/2011 - 00:42 — warthendI wonder if these pampered UNC kids have any comment on the former boss of Blackwater. Please grow up and look beyond the end of your own privileged noses. This is not news.
A mixed distinction
Tue, 12/27/2011 - 19:27 — FlowerpowerMs. Sell is former military, so her methods might be seen as stringent by those who don't want to provide a full day's work for a full day's pay--something that has become endemic to lackadaisical American life. I would like to hear both sides of this story before I write off a boss who is looking for results.
