Solving a stinky problem in Carrboro

Carrboro Alderman John Herrera stepped in dog doo last weekend while mowing his lawn. Now he wants a pooper-scooper ordinance.

"I love dogs. I love animals, but I don't like to step in
the poop," he said at Tuesday night's Board of Aldermen meeting.

Town Manager Steve Stewart said ordinances requiring dog owners to dispose of pet waste can be hard to enforce. But the board voted unanimously to ask town staff to examine the issue, and they will consider it again at a future meeting.

"Careful walking in the meantime," Mayor Mark Chilton said.
