Say it ain't Sal's: What do you miss?

Bookmark and Share

Reader Sue Sweezy sent us this note after reading our story about Sal's restaurant losing its lease in Chapel Hill's Eastgate shopping center.

"Suggest to the Mr. Tornetta that there is restaurant space available in Timberlyne Shopping Center. The French restaurant just closed. WE will woefully miss Sal's. It was our family favorite while my kids grew up here."

I'm betting there are other (Eastgate) Sal's fans out there. Add your comments here, about Sal's and other local restaurants you miss. If we get enough we'll publish your comments in a future issue of The Chapel Hill News.

Sal's

Federal Realty is cutting off its nose to spite its face. Sal's at Eastgate is (was) a Chapel Hill landmark. Eastgate will miss the business many would have done there while also grabbing a delicious, family-friendly meal from great people at a great restaurant.

The atmosphere at Homestead is not the same, but the food and service are just as good. I will gladly take my business there and to Sal's new location, wherever it may be. I hope they can find a place to remain in Chapel Hill and I wish them all the best.

Homestead Road not the same

There's something about those booths at Eastgate I'll miss. Those, and the friendliness of every person who ever waited on me and my friends.

Sal's isn't gone

"We can't bring back the hour of splendor in the grass......"

LOL!!!

Seriously, there will NEVER be another PYEWACKET in its heyday.

Never.

Great food.  Great bar.  Totally great atmosphere day or night.

A very flexible staff.

The Courtyard has not been the same since it closed.

Sal's

There was no court Yard at Sal's untill they left and they never had a bar!
