Chapel Hill High School has hired Tod Morgan of Goldsboro as the new basketball coach of the Tigers’ boys team. He was scheduled to meet with the team and players’ parents Wednesday night at the school.
Morgan compiled 123 career victories during stops at Cape Hatteras, Greene Central, New Bern and Goldsboro.
Last fall, he took over a solid Goldsboro program and took the Cougars back to the NCHSAA playoffs, where they ended up 17-12 after a second-round exit. His last New Bern team finished 17-9 in 2007 and earned the program's first post-season berth in 12 years.
"I've been blessed to be a lot of places and be around a lot of good coaches," Morgan said last season. "We've learned to do things the right way and we've probably learned more during losses."
Morgan replaces Paul Kieckbusch, whose teams finished 13-59 cumulatively in his three years at CHHS. The Tigers improved to 6-17 last season and won three conference games, but still failed to reach the state playoffs.
