Chapel Hill Town Council member Laurin Easthom said the council will rescind last week's vote granting retiring member health benefits for life. The vote could come as early as tonight (Monday night).
"It's gonna go away," says Easthom. "I've talked with Kevin. We both feel it's gonna happen."
Easthom and council member Mark Kleinschmidt blogged about the health benefits vote on their blogs and said they intended to bring the issue back up. One of the members who voted in the 8-1 majority would have to move to reopen the discussion.
Easthom said she has never so many people so upset by a council action.
"We certainly have been deluged. ... a lot of personal attacks," she said. "This was something we just did not need to do. We don't need to do it ever in my opinion."

It's too bad you deleted the article on health insurance as seen by Kevin Foy as well as the comments from this article. It's definitely a topic that needs to be explored further.
