Chapel Hill council member: McCain anti-gay

Bookmark and Share

Chapel Hill Town Council member Mark Kleinschmidt has put a post on his blog called "Pride: Past and Future" about John McCain's stands on issues affecting gays and lesbians.

"This week marks the fifth anniversary of Lawrence v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court case that finally outlawed sodomy laws across the country and the 39th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City that is identified as the event that began the nation-wide struggle for LGBT rights," Kleinschmidt writes. "As we celebrate the landmarks of the past we must look toward possible futures."

The post includes a youTube clip that shows the Republican presidential candidate opposing adoption by gay and lesbian people, gay marriage, a federal non-discrimination bill, hate crimes legislation, and gays and lesbians in the miitary. The clip is sponsored by the National Stonewall Democrats.
