Renowned newspaper columnists David Brooks and E.J. Dionne will visit UNC on Sept. 9 to discuss the presidential race.
Brooks, one of two conservatives on The New York Times op-ed page, and Dionne, one of The Washington Post's most liberal columnists, will lead the free public discussion in Memorial Hall. No reservations or tickets are required.
Brooks and Dionne regularly square off on NPR's All Things Considered.
Brooks spent years working as both op-ed editor and a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal.
Dionne worked as a reporter for The New York Times before joining The Post in 1990, starting his column in 1993.

I will only say in reply that you are a sexy--as well as restrained--guy.
Simply because you have a good mind.
Restraint has its rewards.
Ok, then.
My work is done.
Really?
Tue, 08/12/2008 - 15:43 — DebrahThen if you are not the Marcopolos guy from before.....I should only chastise you for throwing down on some superb writers.
No matter what their ideology.
I thought you were along with the zany Beller woman from the past who worships the little redneck John Edwards.
Moving on......... :>)
Mein Kampf
Tue, 08/12/2008 - 16:46 — marcoploswas reputed to be well written as well.
What? !!!
Tue, 08/12/2008 - 14:13 — DebrahMarco--
Are you insane?
Krauthammer, Will, and Brooks---but especially Krauthammer---are superb writers.
No amount of partisan ideology will change that.
By the way, how did you feel when your hero--Baby Daddy Edwards--voted to go into Iraq?
Oops! I forgot.
When he and his smarmy cover-up, always-open-for-a-millionaire-pity-party wife, who almost destroyed the Democrat Party of 2008 with their selfish, indulgent, and trashy behavior decided that "John, this great man, needed to keep 'serving' his country"......John-Boy all of a sudden was SO SORRY for his previous vote.
This page isn't long enough to explain to you how ridiculous you are with your inability to step outside your rabid and outdated box.
you've got the wrong guy
Tue, 08/12/2008 - 14:38 — marcoplosYou must have me confused with somebody else. I'm not an Edwards supporter.
I was merely referring to Brooks failures of analysis and my belief that a pundit should be accountable and should have a track record of being correct in order to keep their job.
Brooks is a failed pundit
Tue, 08/12/2008 - 11:52 — marcoplosHow do these failures keep their jobs? Krauthammer, Will, etc.
Brooks was publisher of the Weekly Standard during the trumping up of the case for war on Iraq and was wrong on everything.
Only in punditry does utter failure make you richer and more successful.
