I was very disappointed to see that The N&O chose to endorse Barack Obama, though I must admit that I saw it coming.
Don’t get me wrong. I would not be too pleased if you had endorsed John McCain, as I am probably not going to vote for him, either. If you had endorsed Chuck Baldwin, I would be your number one reader. If you had remained neutral, I would still read The N&O. But to endorse Obama — that went too far. It was a kick in crotch. You have lost this reader.

The News & Disturber has now officially endorsed Barack Obama for president. Gee, what a surprise. And to think, you tried to convince us readers that you weren’t part of the liberal-elitest media club! I almost believed you, too. I guess liberals can be deceptive. Obama apparently has deceived you into thinking that he will help the country! I am truly ashamed to read your paper. Now I know that you’re just as bad as the New York Slimes.

It is of no surprise, your newspaper’s choice for president. This late in the game, it is surely a safe bet. Being a life-long Democrat, I find myself troubled by the very fact that Barack Obama is relying so heavily on the directions of those who have held power for the last 30 years. His greatest fault will be his ability to be led by those who proclaim to support him into areas he is not equipped to handle. His inexperience will surely be fun for all those power heads in Washington. They will manipulate his every move from his first day in office. I am sure that the powers-that-be in Washington will let him know who really is in control early on.
Having watched politics in this country for over 45 years, I must say that we certainly have the least qualified candidates running that at anytime in my lifetime. As for how they will do, well, I really think it will be politics as usual with Obama. I actually don’t think he realizes what he is getting into. I sure hope I am wrong, yet I think many citizens feel as I do.
After all the hype and hoopla surrounding Obama’s campaign, it will be interesting to read the media’s account of his first year in office, should he win, next year and compare the changes.
We seem to be in a time when we need the strongest leaders we can find, and we can get only the most popular. What a shame, this happening in the greatest country on earth. I wonder what this says about education being the answer to so many of our problems? It seems the more educated we get, the less we know about how the real world works and the less we appreciate the freedoms we have in America.

Surprise, surprise, surprise! The liberal News & Observer has endorsed Barack Obama. Your reasoning is quite weak. You criticized Sarah Palin’s experience, yet she has more experience than Obama. How long has he actually been in the Senate? It is so similar to John Edwards’ attendance. He was never there!
Oh, and The N&O’s declared support so far is 80 percent Democrat. What is new about this?
Many friends are dropping their subscriptions for this exact reason. The news media are so biased in their reporting, it is rather disgusting. We would probably do the same if not for the Sports and Business sections of the paper.

Your endorsement of Barack Obama did not surprise me. Your love of UNC-CH (the most liberal campus in the South) and Obama makes perfect sense.
At least you are consistent: always lean to the liberal left, whether it’s your coverage of UNC sports or now your endorsement.

Not only do I agree with your Oct. 19 endorsement of Barack Obama, the editorial was beautifully written, and whoever wrote it brings much credit to The News & Observer.
Thanks!!!

I’m disappointed The N&O is endorsing Barack Obama, but I’m not surprised. Your paper, like the rest of the biased press, seems to ignore significant issues about this man.
1. He hasn’t accomplished anything in the Senate, other than voting for nearly a billion of “pork” for his own state of Illinois.
2. He has not been truthful about his ties to the radical Reverend Wright, ACORN and the unrepentant terrorist, Bill Ayers.
3. He has no government executive experience (and yet you say Sarah Palin, who does, is not ready to lead — go figure!)
4. His “share the wealth” tax policies are indeed “change” — a move toward socialism and loss of jobs.
5. He went back on his word to accept government financing.
The upcoming four years of a big-government Democratic Congress and Democratic president will be a disaster.
Your naive support for a slick talking, no substance candidate is disturbing.

It was my great privilege to have known Jonathan Daniels many years ago after his retirement from your paper. He was a fine man and a great liberal. I’m sure he would be looking at your endorsement of Barack Obama with a great deal of happiness. He was a clear thinker and a good Christian. I know he would have loved to comment on our current situation in the U.S. I hope you all keep up his good work.

Presidential Endorsement
Mon, 10/20/2008 - 22:21 — Britany Davis (not verified)You have to endorse someone? Why are you so determined to endorse a socialist muslim? Obama's position is a muslim who declares Jihad based on hard historical evidence, not surface material. He tried to get his cousin, Odinga, elected in Kenya, who is a muslim communist, and Dick Morris also tried to assist in getting him elected. It is truly a misnomer to call yourself a liberal when you clearly fit the bill of a socialist. Fortunately for the people of Kenya, Odinga lost, and because of that loss he has showed his true colors, by burning churches with innocent women and children inside, due to his raids. Can you imagine what would have happened to the rest of the population of Kenya had Obama been successful in getting Odinga elected. And this is who you endorse? Because of your inability to report objectively, I see that you are continuing the purpose of your original owners, the Davis's, agenda. And this purpose was to elect a socialist.....F.D.R.! I will not, or others who I've talked with continue with their subscription to your propaganda - The News and Disturber. A response would be appreciated.
