Drinking the BOCOG Kool-aid

Bookmark and Share

BOCOG — the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games — totally roped me in last night. I was looking for something online about the XXIX Olympiad when I found this YouTube selection with the video for the official "Welcome to Beijing" song for the 100-day countdown.

Don't miss the best glimpse of Rush Hour star Jackie Chan at the 1:15 mark. He's one of, what I'm sure, are the many Chinese luminaries singing their faces off. Alas, he was the only one I recognized. (What, no Yao Ming? Come on!)

That thing is catchy. Dare I say more catchy than "We are the World" or "Do They Know It's Christmas?" (Warning: 80s mullet alert!) You decide.

"Do they know..." is sooo much better

Someone that shares your b-day turned me on to this blog.
I cant believe you could say that this song is better than any song that included THE Simon Le Bon in Do They Knowvocals!!!!
So disappointed....

catchy, yes

...but I think the song had about 428 stanzas. Time to break the bad news to celebrity calligraphy man that we only have time for him to sing 7 verses. I could only hang on till the end because of all the creative hairstyles. Also, I might be wrong but I think Jackie Chan was the oldest singer by about 30 years.

I wonder....

Be curious as to what they are saying. Looks like they employ the same PR Flaks as Wake County Public Schools and the Raleigh Chamber of Clowns.
