Do you have any furniture in good condition that's taking up valuable space? Do something charitable and donate it to The Green Chair Project.
A newly formed nonprofit corporation, The Green Chair Project gives gently used household furnishings to those in need throughout the Wake County community.
According to their website, nearly 80,000 residents of Wake County are living at or below the poverty level, unable to purchase even basic items for their homes. And according to the EPA, furniture accounts for more than nine million tons of waste in our landfills. The Green Chair Project aims to reuse furnishings and renew lives.
Referrals from local social service agencies help identify those in need, such as mothers and children escaping domestic violence, disaster victims, formerly homeless regaining housing or those living with physical or mental disabilities.
