Hi Marie. My mother told me about your story as she read it in the N&O. My daughter, Tracie, had a liver transplant at age 9 mos old. She is now 17 years old. Tracie received part of my liver. We did live donor transplant at University of Chicago. Tracie is followed locally though at UNC Hospital. (Chicago was the only place at the time that offered live donor transplants).
Any time I read a story similiar to what we went through it really touches my heart, because we have been there. I will pray for you and your family and would really just love to give you hope. Hope for your future. Hope for your parents that things can be ok and life can be "normal". I had that given to me by families we had met when were were going thru Tracie's transplant. It is important for me to give that back. My family did the same thing yours is doing with fundraisers. So many people helped us, people that I don't even know. Our community came together and it was life touching for me. Tracie overall has taught me more about life than I will ever teach her. She has really taught me to live for today. Enjoy today. Every single day is truly a gift. Along this journey called life, we are suppose to help others, lean on others and love one another. Thinking and praying for your entire family --
