The state Department of Correction allowed reporters to see video of an August prison cell fire set by Timothy E. Helms, who was sentenced to three life terms after a fatal drunken-driving accident in 1994. Helms suffered severe brain damage at Alexander Correctional Institution in August after setting a fire in his cell. Medical records indicated Helms suffered a beating that resulted in a fractured skull and extensive bleeding in his brain. The video shows Helms being taken from his cell to a shower area and then being carried from the cell block moments later. DOC officials say there is no video from the shower area.
