Respect for these guys
Thu, 10/01/2009 - 09:37 — nlouksI have a lot of respect for these guys.
It seems that whoever organized it, didn't pay enough attention to detail.
Like seating for example.
Like I said. Respect.
Best wishes to all.

NC Army National Guard 30th Special Forces Brigade
Fri, 04/17/2009 - 22:48 — lkarmonockOn April 14, 2009 the NC Army National Guard 30th Special Forces Brigade along with 4,000 troops were given a sending off ceremony at Fayetteville, NC Colliseum. Unfortunately it was not organized except for the Officials Speeches. How can anyone figure that only 10,000 persons can fit into this colliseum and you already have 4,000 persons present that only leaves 6,000 other persons. Each soldier could only have 1.66 relatives & friends see them off. I am from Ocala, FL now and lived in Creedmoor, NC for 30 years before moving to FL in 2005. I drove up from FL which took 12 hrs. to see my son leave. It was just on a whim that I decided to go to the colliseum at 10 AM even though the ceremony began at 2 PM. At 11 AM I decided that I would leave to get some lunch and was told that if I leave I would not be allowed back in to the colliseum so I stayed. My son left with his girl friend and he had to get out of the car on Owends Rd. and run to the Colliseum without his girl friend. They would not even let traffic near the Colliseum. The NC Army National Guard and all the NC Officials owe a public appology to all the persons not allowed into the ceremony. They better start planning properly now for the 30th brigade's return so we can all honor our men and women who courageous serve in the military. If you need my help I am willing to share it.
Deployment Ceremony
Wed, 04/15/2009 - 16:40 — redhairedcowgirlThis was a huge mess from the very start. There wasn't enough seats for family members. Some drove alot of miles to see their soldier off and wasn't even allowed in the building. The complex only held 14,000 people and 4,000 of that were the soldiers. We had to stand out in the rain to only be turned away cause the building was at it's capacity. This was a very stressful day to begin with not to mention adding the anger of not being allowed inside to see the ceremony. There were no facilities for the people who had to wait outside. If you asked to use the facilities, you were told to go to the woods. I don't know who organized this ceremony, but I hope they never organize anything for our soldiers ever again. There were some soldiers that didn't participate in the ceremony, it was stated; "if there isn't room for my family then there isn't room for me". Which I totally agree with. All we hear is how important family is. Well, this ceremony proved to me and alot of others that isn't the truth at all.
After the ceremony the soldiers needed to get back to base, there wasn't even enough buses to bus them back to the FOB. We drove back by the complex around 7pm and there were quite a bit of the soldiers still standing around waiting on transportation back to the base. The organization of this entire day was a disaster from the word go. I can only hope and pray that our soldiers will be treated better after they are deployed than they were today.....
Deployment Ceremony
Wed, 04/15/2009 - 11:13 — SfryarWe need someone who can plan these events for our loved ones that are serving our country.
This was the worst thing anyone could have possibly imagined as a family member that is trying to express their goodbyes. Children crying outside waiting on their parents who made it in, or vice-versa. Grandparents...parents..sibling...children without the opportunity to see or hug their loved one before leaving to serving our country. When did it become apparent that we should have numerous politcal figures speak during a farewell time for family and friends? Would they (politcal figures) have been more conscientious if it was their loved one leaving?
As we had to sit through these speechs from Governor Beth Perdue (NC) and Governor Joe Manchin (WV) and try to understand why BRIGADE and ARMORY could not be pronounced properly we remember they were not the ones that mattered at this time. To our wondeful POLITCAL FIGURES that we hold so dearly in this free country...REMEMBER WE AS FAMILY MEMBERS HOLD OUR LOVED ONES MORE DEARLY THAN YOU !!!!!! Next remember your six p's ....Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance!
