This is last minute, but hey, if you're planning to ride Saturday anyway, you can simply adjust your plans. It's a ride for a good cause, a ride through some great Piedmont terrain. It's the Triangle Land Conservancy's Ride for the Land 2008: Little River Roll."

This year's ride will be through the Little River watershed of Durham and Orange counties, taking in the communities of Bahama, Caldwell, Orange Factory, Schley, Treyburn and Willardville. The ride commences at 8 a.m. from the Durham Technical Community College's Northern Durham Center at 2401 Snow Hill Road. In addition to the classic 60-mile route, shorter options of 45 and 30 are available. Rest stops every 15 miles. Registration is $35 with proceeds going toward the TLC's efforts to save land in the watershed.
Curiously, the ride is sponsored by Trek Bicycles of Raleigh, Performance Bicycle, Bara Burrito in Raleigh, Durham Technical Community College and, the lead sponsor — WalMart. It's that last one that's curious; don't recall such an event being sponsored by the biggest of the big boxes.
Sounds like a good one. Registration begins at 7.
