As the base continues to build at RDU this morning, here's what's happening elsewhere on the Southeast ski front.

The base of Ski Beach this morning around 7:30.

Already open:
Sugar Mountain. 15-35-inch base, seven trails open, three lifts running.

Opening today:
Appalachian Ski Mountain. 36-58-inch base, five runs, four lifts.
Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia: 35 inches of natural snowfall this week, three inches overnight, six trails, three lifts.

Opening tomorrow:
Ski Cataloochee. Reopens, actually, after opening for a few days in late October.
Ski Beech. Opens with weekday lift ticket rates on the weekend, reduced prices during the week.

For you fans of Wintergreen in Virginia, despite having a good deal of snow already down and a forecast for continued favorable snowmaking conditions, the resort reports it may open Dec. 6. Otherwise, it will open Dec. 12, as originally planned.
