I love when you folks do crazy things and let me know about it. Ironman Tom Hughes, for instance, a bud from Durham, is in Colorado for a few days. So what did he do? Earlier today he did "The Incline," a notorious climb that goes straight up Mt. Manitou in Manitou Springs (a tourist town outside of Colorado Springs). The Incline used to have a railway running up it; today, you have to run up it on your own. Like Tom did this morning, in 41 minutes.

It's only 0.9 miles long, but it goes from a bas altitude of 6,574 feet to a peak of 8,585 feet (for the cypherin' challenged, that's a gain of 2,011 feet). Tom reports that the average grade is 41 percent, the steepest, 68 percent.
Once Tom catches his breath, he promises a full report.
