You: Fiftysomething rollerblader guy doing laps Friday morning around the lake at Apex Community Park. On the first five or so you were drinking your morning latte. Also, you were wearing a helmet. Blue, I think.
Me: Fiftysomethingish as well guy who was walking the first five times you passed me, then using a pair of Nordic Walking Poles the sixth time. That last time you slowed and asked, "On your next lap you're going to ditch the poles and get some of these, right?" I think I giggled. You had to get to work, I was on a timed walk around the lake for a blog Sunday on the effectiveness of Nordic Walking Poles. But there was so much more I wanted to ask you: How often to do ride around the lake? How long have you been riding? Do you ride elsewhere? Do you see many other people rollerblading? It seems like the activity peaked in the '90s, true? Do you ever read the morning paper while you roll?
Possibilities: Perhaps a blog entry. Or who knows, it could even lead to something in print. Contact me, won't you?
As for the rest of you, come back Sunday and see how those poles worked out.
