Take a moment to push yourself away from the computer and to stick your head out the door. That's 87 degrees of cloudless, dry sunshine you're feeling. Now take another moment to check out the weather forecast. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Cary's Hinshaw Greenway on a dry Wednesday.

Hanna, Ike, Josephine and who knows who else may be following them across the Atlantic have the potential to seriously limit your play time for a time to come starting Friday. Do you really want to spend the last day and a half of calm and dry feverishly widgeting away?

This realization occurred shortly before lunch today. I'm busy, sure, but cognizant of my sanity as well. Cabin fever and I aren't good bunkmates. So I grabbed the trusty Trek 820 commuter bike and took an hour-long spin through the hood. Basking in my post-ride afterglow — and I apologize to my officemates about said afterglow — I feel a little better about what Hanna and friends may bring our way.

I highly advise a greenway trek at some point this afternoon or evening. (Sunset is at 7:38 this evening, btw.) Find the closest greenway to you by visiting our greenway tracker at triangle.com. Mountain bikers should be especially vigilant about sliding out early and getting a ride in. A deluge could close trails for a week or more. You can locate the trail network closest to you at our mountain bike trail tracker, also at triangle.com.

So log off and get going.

Thanks. Just got back from an urban walk.

FYI you links are backwards ("greenway tracker" links to trails and "trail tracker" links to greenways.
