The News & Observer has posted online the audio from an interview conducted on July 28, 2011, with Durham District Attorney Tracey Cline.
The posting is at her request. The N&O does not verify the accuracy of factual representations in the audio; the interview was conducted as part of the reporting for a three-part series about Cline that was published Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The series was based on court rulings and findings, court documents, transcripts of trials and hearings, other records as well as multiple interviews. They total thousands of pages.
Cline has written that she was treated unfairly in the series.
Cline had previously requested interviews and email exchanges be posted online. The newspaper expressed concern that some of the interviews and emails contain errors of fact. Cline said she is not concerned about that.
The series, and other reports this year that are mentioned in the series, have detailed a number of cases in which Cline's conduct is under scrutiny in the courts.
Supplemental documents, such as court rulings and appeals, were previously posted online as the series was published.
