More than 30,000 households began receiving blue recycling carts on Monday, July 23, as part of Phase Three of the City of Raleigh Solid Waste Service's transition to biweekly recycling. Delivery is scheduled to continue through Aug. 28.
Rehrig Pacific, who manufactures the 95-gallon carts, will be making deliveries on weekdays, although some carts may arrive on Saturday and Sunday to keep up with the delivery schedule. Any problems with carts should be reported by calling 919-996-6890.
Residents who are affected by Phase Three should be receiving calendars with the new recycling schedule in the mail. The blue carts are not to be used until after Labor Day, Sept. 3. After this date, city crews will not service green bins.
Residents are encouraged to keep the green bins for use inside their home or donate them to an organization that can put them to good use. Residents may also drop off broken or unwanted green bins to any City of Raleigh fire station during the month of September.
