Raleigh Recycling and Wake County are sponsoring a one-day compost bin sale on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The FreeGarden Earth compost bin will be available for purchase. The bin is user-friendly, featuring a large 20.25-inch opening that provides easy access to add materials and maintain its contents.
The bin is made from 100-percent recycled content and is a single-unit body, so no assembly is required. It has an 11-cubic-foot capacity and has a 10-year warranty. And if you're concerned about transporting the bin, it fits easily in the back seat of a regular-size sedan. The bin will sell for $45.
Kitchen collection containers wil also be on sale for $8, compost aerators for $15, and compost thermometers for $25. Free compost sessions will be held periodically throughout the day by Master Composters.
The compost bin sale will be held rain or shine, and bins are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted for payment.
It will be held at 4121 New Bern Ave., the former Super Kmart parking lot off Business 64.
