All 397 national parks across the country will offer free admission from Jan. 14-16 to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The free admission applies to 14 parks in North Carolina including the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kitty Hawk. A list of activities can be found at the National Parks website.

Admission will be waived on 14 other days in 2012 — National Park Week, which runs from April 21-29, Get Outdoors Day on June 9, National Public Lands Day on Sept. 29, and the weekend of Veterans Day, which is Nov. 10-12.
