The latest unemployment figures from the state offered a bit of encouraging news with most counties showing some hiring.
So who's doing the hiring? Here's a quick look:
HCL Technologies announced this morning that it would hire 100 people in Cary to handle work relating to a contract it signed with Merck. HCL provides IT services as well as other engineering and business services. Find out more about HCL here.
In Durham, AW North Carolina plans to hire 360 people over the next two years. The company makes transmissions for Toyotas. Keep track of jobs here.
In Cary, Siemens plans to add 300 jobs over the next five years at its customer service headquarters. Find out more here.
Outside the Triangle, in Kinston, Spirit AeroSystems has already started hiring workers for its operations at Global TransPark. It's supposed to begin building fuselages for the Airbus A350 passenger plane in July. It will eventually employ 1,000 people. Get updates on it here.
Also in Kinston, MasterBrand Cabinets recently said it would hire 100 workers by the year's end and that it would start taking applications immediately. The jobs pay an average annual wage of $25,787, benefits not included.
Workers will help make cabinets for kitchens and bathrooms as MasterBrand tries
to increase its production from 1,000 cabinets a day to 3,000.

And finally, Pastek Industries will hire 250 people as it opens a facility in the Richmond
County town of Hamlet. The company makes cosmetic and pharmaceutical
