Local food blogger Dean McCord has an interesting post about the upcoming Raleigh Restaurant Week. Restaurant weeks are designed to get folks in the door for a three-course meal at a amazing price. Here the cost ranges from $20 to $30.
But McCord questions which Raleigh restaurants are offering a bargain and which ones aren't.

Bargain? Not really.

This event should be about promoting the best of what we have to offer locally. It should be about bringing new customers into area restaurants. It should be enticing, appealing, and offer, at minimum, reasonable value. This isn't happening.
Many of the propsed menus are downright boring. Some others are offensive rip-offs. I understand that chefs have to watch their food costs very closely now, but money spent on creating new business is money well spent. Showing a new diner exactly how good your food is is a sure way to create repeat business. Boring them silly or taking their money and giving no value in return just isn't smart. So why are chefs with this attitude even taking part?
This promotion has great potential. Why can't members of our restaurant community appreciate that?
