Barbecue Boot Camp

Bookmark and Share

If you have always wanted to learn from real pit masters, this is your chance.

The N.C. Barbecue Society is offering a one-day camp for teenage boys, ages 15-18, and a three-day cooking event for adults in Corolla this fall.

From Oct. 8 to 11, the society will convene in the Outer Banks to offer the classes on how to cook traditional barbecue. The pit masters who will be teaching include Bill Eason, who competes with The Little Red Pig Cooking Team that has won regional and national competitions, and Steve Grady, co-owner of Grady's BBQ in Dudley, N.C.

Adults pay $500 for three nights' lodging, three dinners, a breakfast and 18 hours of classes over the three days. Teenagers pay $50 for lunch and six hours worth of classes on Oct. 10. Attendance is limited to 30 adults and 10 teenagers.

Registration is due by Aug. 15. For more information, go to www.ncbbqsociety.com or call 336-765-6227
