Recycle your jeans

Bookmark and Share

If you've been cleaning out your closets recently, hold on to that pile of giveaway clothes! There are plenty of clothing recycling options coming up in the next few weeks

The first starts on Monday. Teen retailer Aeropostale and the non-profit DoSomething.org have teamed up again for Teens for Jeans to make sure homeless teens won't go without.

Bring in your gently-worn jeans to any Aeropostale store, and DoSomething.org will make sure the jeans are donated to one of the 500 local youth shelters that have been selected as partners. The stores will be accepting jeans through Feb. 22. Aeropostale will kick off the initiative by donating 10,000 pairs of jeans.

When you drop off your jeans, you'll get 25 percent of a new pair of jeans, although no purchase in necessary.

Aeropostale has stores at Crabtree Valley Mall, Triangle Town Center, Northgate Mall, Cary Towne Center and the Streets at Southpoint.

Last year, the groups collected and donated more than 125,000 pairs of jeans to homeless youth. This year, they expect to receive more than 200,000 pairs.

PS ... be on the lookout for the PSA's on the effort .. "Gossip Girl's" Chase Crawford (Nate Archibald) is the star of the announcement.
