Michelle Obama in Target

Bookmark and Share

I know some people this week were shocked, just SHOCKED! about Michelle Obama wearing "short" shorts on her recent hike at the Grand Canyon (Duh! What else would you wear?) But what I find even more fashion newsworthy is that she wore a black and beige print dress by Merona from Target when she arrived in Phoenix Sunday. Apparently, it came from an older collection and is no longer in stores.

Of course, it was just a matter of time, right? After wearing cardigans from J. Crew, T-shirts from Gap and dresses Talbots, you knew she was going to pull out some Target cheap chic at some point. Could H&M be next?!

Forbes 100 Most Powerful

Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list is full of women that make serious waves. Number 1 is neither Michelle Obama, nor is it Hillary Clinton – For the third year running Germany's chancellor, Angela Merkel, is the world's most powerful woman. First Ladies don't come that close – Michelle is only #40. The top American – at #2 – is FDIC Chair Sheila Bair. #3 is PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, and #54 is Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, but she's ranked lower than the other sitting female Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg at #48. It takes more than the best payday loan rates to get on the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list.

Leave her alone

I don't think Michele Obama cares what people think about what she wears. I find it refreshing to finally have a president's wife who is herself and doesn't have to wear designer clothes just b/c she is the president's wife. In this economy, designers need to start making clothes that is a bit cheaper. Why should they make out like bandits when so many people are out of jobs? As for Michele's shorts, she was on vacation with her family. Why shouldn't she wear shorts?
