On Friday, I got a peek at a few menswear lines, as well.
The first was Duckie Brown, the NY-based menswear label designed by Steven Cox and Daniel Silver. The show featured the brand’s signature tailored looks—lots of nice suiting pieces in grey and black. But not to be too stuffy, the show also featured some loud animal print pieces, plaids and harem pants in day-glo green and pink.
One of the cool things about the show’s presentation was that spectators were only seated on one side of the room. This allowed for the models to walk the runway, and then stand on the risers on the opposite side, giving everyone in attendance a great view of the clothes.

From there, I headed over to the Nautica presentation. This one was one of my favorites for two very important reasons—hunky models, and food (which is scare in the tents, as one would imagine).
Since it was a presentation, the models just stood on platforms placed all around the room, instead of walking a traditional runway. According to the label, the spring/summer 2011 collection was “inspired by the people and architecture of the American Southern coast.” They were pretty spot-on.
The clothing’s vibe was very relaxed, yet slightly preppy, just like the clothes we see on our own beaches. Seersucker blazers, khakis, madras ties and nautical flag-print board shorts were among the offerings. Think yacht club cool.
