State Fair fare?

In this week's Taste This! column (http://www.newsobserver.com/442/story/1258195.html), I share a list of my favorite foods at the State Fair. I also mention that I'm not interested in whatever new thing they're deep-frying this year, but I have to admit that my curiosity is piqued since I learned that it's pecan pie.

What foods are musts for your State Fair experience? Anything new you want to try this year?

State Fair fare

For my husband and me, our absolute must are an Italian sausage and London broil sandwich (peppers and onions - hold the cheese) from the Butcher Boys stand (near your roasted corn and strawberry stand).  Not only do we love their sandwiches, but the smell of the wafting smoke from their grill is intoxicating!  Our fair visit isn't complete without splitting a roast corn (hold the butter for us as well), hot apple cider, N.C. fudge, and a frozen chocolate covered banana (from Pop-Pop's stand - any Arrested Development fans out there?!)  We were disappointed to find out that the Indian food stand that we visited last year is gone this time around.  Any info about unique food stands would be appreciated.
